Apparently, much happens at Farmington when I’m traveling. Who knew?
While I was in wondrous Hackensack, Layla played her second game with the White Angels. Unfortunately, they lost this one too, but, again, Layla hustled and had fun. Reportedly, the opposing assistant coach was a turd. Every time they scored, he’d run on the field whooping and whopping and giving everyone a high five. I’m all for excitement–not me personally, others can do it though–but it can be a bit demoralizing for the opposing team after a while.
Madysen and Speed played (again) on Saturday (after I got home). Let’s give Holly some credit–like she doesn’t get enough already. Madysen’s game was at 8 a.m., and we couldn’t see all of both games. Holly got up and went to Madysen’s game. I haven’t heard whether or not she got there on time, but I like the effort regardless. Madysen was playing her old team, Solar 94. Since leaving the team, she hasn’t lost to them, but she has tied them twice and won once. Considering the funk her team has been in (two ties and only one goal), I was worried about this one. No need to worry though. They won 3-0 and reportedly played well. Madysen had two assists even. They are currently in third place and have a big game this weekend (on Madysen’s birthday) against Solar Red (last three paragraphs).
Speed’s team was sitting in first place–though we are very early in the season–going into Saturday’s game. They played Comets Red, which was a Classic League team last year. They were more organized than Speed’s team, but most of the game was played in the midfield. Not a lot of chances for either team. Comets scored on their first shot, which was very well taken. Just before half, Speed’s team got an equalizer (own goal) on a corner taken by Speed. It poured throughout the second half. It looked certain to end 1-1, but a late goal by Comets gave them the 2-1 win.
