Soccer In My Absence [Soccer]

While I was in London watching professional soccer, Layla was at home playing recreational soccer.  With all the travel I’ve been doing, I’ve only seen two of her six or seven games (the only two they didn’t lose–I told you I’m good luck).

On Saturday, Madysen and Speed played.  Madysen’s team was in third place playing the second place team, Dallas Texans Red 94 (they had already beaten the first place team, Solar Red 94).  Their opponent had two girls from her team last year, so it was a game that the girls and coach really wanted to win.  Which they did 1-0!  So going into this last week of the season, they are tied for second place.  Gotta win the last game and see how the chips fall.

Speed was playing FC Dallas, a team on which one of his new friends plays.  FC Dallas was undefeated at the time, so this would be a big win for Speed’s team.  And they won 1-0 off an assist by Speed.  One of our kids got a red card, supposedly for retaliation, and Speed got a yellow card for a foul against his friend.  Out of the 150 select soccer games that Madysen and Speed have played over the last 2 and 1/2 years, those are only the 8th and 9th cards I’ve seen handed out–which is not enough in my opinion.  Of course, Madysen and Speed have gotten 2 yellow cards each out of the nine–they get their anger management problems from their mother.
