Last weekend, Speed’s team played in this tournament. The competition did not seem too tough, so I expected them to do alright. Their first game was against Celtic Green, which is the Norman, OK club I played for as a kid. All reports were that the game was ugly and that the boys did not play well at all. And they lost 1-0. That afternoon, they played even worse and lost 3-0 to Kersanow FC.
Their final game was against FC Dallas, a team they recently beat 1-0 in league play. Again, the boys didn’t play with much passion. Speed has this growing tendency to hang out in the corner. I’m not sure whether either team had any real shots in the first half. FC Dallas got a goal midway through the second half. Shortly thereafter, Speed’s team was given a PK for a foul in the box. Speed took the PK and scored, though the shot was less than quality.
The managed to hold on for the tie and even had a few good chances to go ahead. They did finish in last place in their bracket with 1 point (FC had 2 points, Celtic 4, Kersanow 9).
