Lacrosse Is Officially Underway [Speed]

Speed has officially started his career as a lacrosse player. Last night was the first practice for the 5th/6th grade teams. Since tryouts ended and he found out he made the cut, he has actually done quite a bit of work by himself with the stick (probably more in the last month than he did in the last two years with a soccer ball).

He’d done so much work that the other day he gave himself a black eye. He regularly goes out behind the house and practices throwing and catching against the side of the high school parking garage. Apparently, the ball ricocheted off the edge of the head of his stick into his eye. He came in pretty upset by the pain, Holly said, but it was barely bruised the next afternoon.

Anyway, he really enjoyed practice, and I’m hoping he does really well. (Of course, as is the way in the Nino household, as soon as lacrosse practice was over, we jumped into the car and headed far north to soccer practice. Good times.)
