Off To Celtic Cup [Soccer]

Madysen is so lucky. She gets to miss school today (Friday) and Monday to—of all things—play in Celtic Cup with her club team. Holly was gracious enough to take us to the airport this morning (and hopefully she’ll be gracious enough to pick us up on Monday).

As Madysen and several other girls were boarding, a female steward (only in America can we change one perfectly descriptive word into two) asked where they were going. Madysen—in classic blonde style—responded: “California.” No kidding. Isn’t the entire flight going to California—Ontario, California, if you want to get really specific? Or, if you want to get super-duper specific, Celtic Cup.

Since we got off the plane, Madysen has been experiencing pain in her left ear. Luckily, one of the dads is a doctor, and he thinks the pain should subside soon. If it doesn’t, we may be heading to an urgent care facility about dinner time.

Anyway, it should be a great tournament. Ten of the top forty U13 teams in the country will be there (eight of them from California and us and Solar Red representing NTX). You must win your group to advance. It’ll be tough, especially considering all the rain and we’ve had interfering with practices, but we’ll see.

Hopefully Madysen will feel well enough to play.

Update: Coach Don grew concerned when, at lunch, Madysen neither ate nor talked. That never happens! But after napping all afternoon and taking some OTC medicines (and missing the afternoon training session–hmm), she felt better (and looked much better). By dinner, she was back to her old self. Hoo-boy.
