What Was Sarah Into? [Funny]

In the comments to the post celebrating Holly’s birthday, my sister Sarah mentions that Holly seemed to be drawn to denim in her high school days. I must respond, at least in part. First, Holly will be very excited to hear that pictures of her in her late twenties were mistaken as high school pictures. Second, in one of the three pictures, she is wearing chambray. (Note: I make no excuses for the pearl buttons.)

Finally, here is a picture from early 1993–after high school and shortly before we got hitched–in which Holly is not wearing denim. And, yes, that is me playing the part of the handsome devil. Also pictured? That’s Sarah and another of my sisters, Abigail (holding a bear?), in the background and Colin, my brother, (holding his Thomas the Tank Engine) in my lap. The picture was taken in Blairsville, Georgia, while we were visiting my grandparents.

While I’d like to recount some funny story about Sarah–other than what may jump out at you from the photo–I only recall Colin subsisting on a diet of McDonald’s french fries and losing his shoes in the McDonald’s ballpit.

Update: I’ve been informed that this picture is not from that Georgia trip but was taken at my parents home in Kingwood. I think that means this is later in 1993 but still before Madysen was born.

  1. Sarah says:

I look like Ryan Alexander in this picture. In my defense, mom bought my outfits at Wal-Mart. We got our hair cut in an old house right off of Hwy 59 that shared its residency with a body piercing and tattoo parlor. I believe for all four off us mom paid $20 including tip. I also had a perm which I believe I begged for so I have no excuse in that department.

I expect a post in the future that basks in what I have now become despite the obvious hindrances presented in this photo.

  2. Mom says:

Actually, the body pierciing and tatoo parlor moved in AFTER the hair salon closed down – I plead guilty to the Walmart clothes.

Sarah, You didn’t grow up to be a Wal-Mart clothes wearing, cheap haircut having, permed woman? News to me.

Okay, now I’m confused. How is it you were on Home Improvement and in Oklahoma? Is that where the series shot?

This is the first time I’ve ever heard a Home Improvement reference. I guess now we know why.
