D.C. Is Great; A Better Afternoon [Travel]

Okay, so after a rough start to my day in D.C., things did improve but not immediately.

Shortly after my meeting, I was in a car wherein a woman was absolutely giddy at the idea that our D.C. office was going to be hosting a fundraiser for Hillary. Luckily, it was a short car ride.

Then I headed over to the Lincoln Memorial and walked back along the Mall to the Capitol. A great time.

The Lincoln Memorial

Gettysburg Address

Second Inaugural Address

From behind the Lincoln Memorial looking across the Potomac to Arlington Cemetery and, on the hilltop, Arlington House, Robert E. Lee's home

From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial looking at the Reflecting Pool, the WWII Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol

The World War II Memorial

The Atlantic side

The Pacific side

The Baldacchino Sculpture (four American eagles holding a laurel wreath)

The Field of Stars on the Freedom Wall

The Washington Monument

The White House

As I was wandering down the Mall, I noticed this bus from the high school that Holly and I attended. I never rode the “short bus.”

The National Gallery of Art

I stepped quickly into the National Gallery of Art and, given my admiration for van Gogh, headed directly to the handful of his pieces on display.

La Mousmé

Roses

Flower Beds in Holland

The Olive Orchard

Definitely better than being in the office.
