Seeing as we now have a pool, swimming ability–namely, the ability to not drown–is more paramount than ever. So, Holly put Emma and Layla into some private swim lessons with a former high school swimmer (and recent OU alumna) this past week. Emma survives in the water, but swimmer qua swimmer, she is not. But the lessons were great for improving her swimming. Layla is already part fish. So she refined her strokes–freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke–and wants to join a swim team. Hold on there, little miss.

On Monday, Layla got up on the diving board but begged off and headed back down the stairs. Of course, she slipped coming down the steps and hurt her knee pretty good. On Tuesday, she actually went off the diving board, the first one being a bit of a belly flop. By Friday, she had improved greatly.
