Now that you know that, you may be asking: “What is Whirlyball?” Good question. Wikipedia explains here; Whirlyball.com explains here. Essentially, it’s a team sport played in bumper car-like vehicles using jai alai-like scoops to score the whiffle ball into a basketball-like backboard. In a word: Awesome.
As part of our summer associate program, we had about forty partners, associates, and summers out on Thursday night playing a winner take all tournament at our local Whirlyball establishment. (Not a picture of us at right.) Long story short, my team didn’t win–due mostly to the vagaries of officiating (the Phoenix Suns have nothing on me). Regardless, it was a very fun time, and, as a special bonus, there were no major injuries–though several people were sore on Friday. A much better way to spend time than watching the NBA Finals.
