After two weeks of soaking up some love with her pink cast and four weeks post-surgery, Holly got her cast cut off yesterday afternoon. And then she washed her arm for fifteen straight minutes. The wrist is healing pretty well. She is a little discouraged that the “T” scar on the back of her wrist is less square–much less so–than she expected. On to a soft splint and three or four weeks of physical therapy.
Holly had kept the cast remarkably clean but did allow the kids to sign it on Sunday evening. Madysen’s concoction took nearly ten minutes–and she would have gone on longer if we hadn’t set a timer in the end.

Emma wrote her name and drew a flower, a butterfly, and a ladybug. When she was drawing the ladybug, she asked Holly: “Does a ladybug have 6 or 11 legs?” Holly wasn’t sure exactly how many legs they have, but she was pretty confident it was an even number.

This is the most legible penmanship I’ve ever seen out of Speed. The exclamation point is a nice touch too. Layla went with simple sophistication (and I suspect was a little cramped by Madysen’s hogging nearly half the cast).
