[2011 Update: These videos have been taken down from YouTube, so you'll have to imagine the funny.]
One thing we missed during our time in Cleveland was Sonic, a chain of drive-in restaurants located mostly in the south. The number of Vanilla Dr. Pepper’s I’ve consumed in my life is staggering (I’m trying to give them up). Anyway, for a while now they’ve been running a bunch of commercials of two people conversing in their cars at Sonics. Mostly they are dumb, but they are pretty decent by modern commercial standards. Here is my favorite one: (Note: After I posted this, I saw that Sonic doesn’t–for some dumb reason–allow embedding; you can click on the video to watch it on YouTube.)
According parodying (odd word) these commercials has become quite the rage. So much so that the Sonic guys have responded:
As it turns out, while the kids were at my parents, Madysen joined with Abigail and Kathleen to make a couple of their own. They really need to learn how to edit the beginning and ending of their videos.
I used to like the “Sorry…Charlie” Sonic commercial. But now I’ve got a new fave line:
“Whoa, that’s insane.”
