It was just last week that Madysen lost 5-0 to a decent, but by no means unstoppable force of a team. I’m confident that the team will show better in time, but I wasn’t expecting to much for their Wednesday night game considering they were playing Texans Red 93, one of the top two teams. But sports are weird, so they played well and got a 1-1 tie. A very good showing.
Of course, not content to max out our out-of-pocket medical expenses just for Holly (you may have heard about her wrist thingy), Madysen decided to slice open a 1″ gash right between her eyes at the start of Thursday’s soccer practice. The team was running a warm up lap around the fields, which boundary is marked by a number of PVC pipes sticking out of the ground loosely. Something happened in front of her and a pipe got pushed down, and it whipped back and hit her right between the eyes. She started running again, not realizing that she was cut until the other girls let her know.

We went to the emergency room, and they sealed it up with Dermabond. No stitches necessary, which was a relief to Madysen. She feels okay. No concussion or other head-related concerns. She’s looking forward to wearing her blood-soaked shirt often.

She and I are headed to Atlanta this afternoon for a Labor Day soccer tournament. I’ve got my fingers crossed that we don’t have to make any emergency visits.
