I never would have figured that, out of all the kids, Emma would be on the team with the longest unbeaten streak (heck, Madysen’s pining for a single win!). Well, Emma’s streak is over. Not surprising considering their Wednesday opponent (made up of girls from the school Emma attended last year) had a perfect record winning games by an average score of 5-0.
I got there a little late, and Emma was doing her statue thing in midfield. Here she is turned around looking at the play in front of her own goal. When we talk about going and getting the ball–especially when it is behind her!–she says she understands, but it doesn’t appear that she does on the field.

They were down 2-0 at the end of the first quarter, but tied it up a 2-2 before by halftime. In that second quarter, Emma played forward and chased the ball all over the field.

She just got a foot on the ball

Attacking the ball? Must be playing forward
In the third quarter, Emma really confused me. She started in midfield and did her statue thing. Then, about halfway through the quarter, she moved up and just started playing forward, which left the defense a bit exposed. This is why I don’t coach.
They lost 4-2.
