Over the weekend, Layla and Emma became obsessed with email. They’ve both had email addresses for some time, but they hadn’t paid any attention to them in some time. I’m sure that this new obsession will dissipate quickly as there are relatively few emails streaming into them. Every email ends with “write me back!” and there are a limit to the number of replies I’m willing to send in a day.
As of early Sunday morning, Layla was unfamiliar with spam email. She is now familiar. She was checking Emma’s inbox and asked me: “Who is _____ ______ (some name I didn’t recognize and don’t now recall)?” “I don’t know anyone by that name. It’s probably spam.” I replied. Then Layla began to read the email out loud: “‘Hi Emmatink. Let’s talk about your c***–making it bigger.’ Dad, what’s a c***?” As Speed is rolling on the floor laughing, I replied, “Where is your mother?”
