We had a fun final weekend of 2007, so I’ll recap briefly.
On Saturday, Layla had an indoor soccer game. I didn’t take any pictures since the photos don’t come out so hot. Regardless, they won handily 6-1 or 8-1 (the scoreboard said the former, Layla says the latter). They didn’t have any subs, so Layla got to play the entire game and did well.
For whatever reason, I agreed to accompany Holly, Layla, and Emma to the mall. Apparently, lots of other people had decided to go to the mall as well. Who could have predicted that? The girls did enjoy the four-story Christmas tree in the middle of the skating rink.

Layla loves to take pictures
Saturday night, everyone got dressed up (jeans amounts to dressed up in our family) and went to dinner at Mi Cocina’s in Highland Park Village. For the holidays, the Village is beautifully decorated. Emma picked at her dinner but enjoyed eating parsley(?). After dinner, Holly brought up the idea of seeing Alvin and the Chipmunks and had Speed run over to check the start time. When he returns with the news that it started in ten minutes, she decided that she didn’t really want to see it. Emma and Layla were especially disappointed, so Holly said that I would take them on Sunday.
Instead, we drove around looking at Christmas lights, and Holly mentioned getting dessert at Pacuigo’s. A moment later Emma said, “I’m so hungry.” When everyone laughed, she protested, “I’m not just saying that because I want ice cream!” So we had Pacuigo’s. One of the flavors I had was Mascarpone Chocolate & Rum. Yummy.
So this afternoon, I dutifully took Emma, Layla, and Madysen (Speed had an “incident” as we were leaving and had to stay home) to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. The girls loved it. But in reality it was–even acknowledging that it was a kid movie–dreadful. No wonder Holly didn’t want to see it. And then the Cowboys lost. Not the greatest day ever.
