I’m starting to think that it might be a good investment to make a contribution to our local police union. Holly has had a few run-ins with the local black-and-whites. And who can forget Layla needing a drink under police interrogation while Holly was too busy showering. Comparatively, my little Maxima accident was nothing, law-enforcement-wise.
Three or four Saturdays ago was a beautiful day. Speed’s cousin was over, and they had several other kids over to have an airsoft gun war around the outside of the house. They weren’t outside ten minutes when I hear, while working in my office with my back to the street, someone yell: “Put down the gun!” Speed responded: “It’s an airsoft gun.”
When I turned around, there were three police cars splayed across the street in front of the house. Apparently, a neighbor called 9-1-1 saying that there was a young male wandering the neighborhood with a handgun. When the police turned down our street, they saw the cousin running in the opposite direction and took hostile action.
I’m happy to report that no one was injured.
