My mother won’t like the tenor of this email, and given that she’s my most loyal reader, it’s probably unwise to antagonize her–but why stop now.
Tomorrow morning (early), Holly and I are flying to Boston and then meeting up with my parents and sister and brother-in-law to head up to Maine for, well, I don’t really know what for other than lobster and chowda. Seeing as I recall several trips as a young lad during which my parents and I toured around New England in search of buying a bed & breakfast–it never happened. I love New England, but I don’t recall particularly enjoying those trips. But I’m sure the next five days will be a disaster (what am I supposed to say?, oh yeah) fun.
I have no idea what Holly and I will do in Boston tomorrow, but I’m sure we’ll find something. What really worries me is that my sister Abigail is here watching the kids. It’s even money that he is the victim of a justifiable homicide between tomorrow and Sunday.
My last trip non-work trip to Boston was way back in 1991; Holly and I and our entire class went to Plymouth and Boston for our senior trip. What a bunch of dorks–except for me, of course.

On a beach on the Cape, I think: not exactly a big class

Dinner at The Wayside Inn; back when I was at my playing weight (sigh)

Aboard The Mayflower

Lexington or Concord?; you decide

Candlepin bowling (neither I nor Holly are pictured)

Whale watching

Coolness personified; can you feel me?
It won’t exactly be Nevis, but it beats work. /fingers and toes crossed
See ya next week.
Why are you wearing a tie on the plane? Seriously.
Not that you will be able to read this since you are flying this morning – but I appreciate your willingness (?) to step out after all these years and try a New England vacation with your family. Hope you are pleasantly surprised!
Bob: I assume you mean other than the obvious reason (that’s what the ladies like). In actuality, I think school dress code required it.
Mom: if I’m surprised at all on this trip, it will be pleasantly.
