Layla’s 10th Birthday: Another Long Birthday Celebration [Birthdays]

200903090617.jpg So last Wednesday was Layla’s 10th birthday. Ten years ago, we were living in Cleveland Heights, and I was still in law school. A lot has changed–mostly for the better.

In an attempt to out-duel Emma for longest birthday celebration, Layla’s was spread out over an entire week, though without as many activities as Emma seemed to cajole us into. It all started last weekend, when Layla, a friend, Madysen, Emma, and Holly went to see the Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience . Surprisingly, Holly happily took them (which makes only the second movie she’s ever taken the kids too). What a wonderful mother, or maybe she was hoping to see someone? They all liked it, which I find dubious since it can’t really be any good. That’s what I get for having all these girls in the house.

On Wednesday, schedules were very full. So we had an abbreviated celebration.

And pecan pie for dessert?

On Sunday, we had the big dinner–again of Layla’s choice. How many dinners does she get to choose? Her choice: Benihana. This was not our first Benihana birthday dinner. The kids sure do love the food and the theater.

mesmerized the kids

Update: I forgot two very important things: 1) We finished off Sunday night with ice cream at Baskin Robbins, which was a little annoying because of the other customers and the service. I won’t go back. 2) Our Benihana “chef”, Mango, was talking to Layla about her birthday when he blurted out: “You are prettier than your sister,” while pointing to Madysen. I think Madysen was a little hurt by that.
