Just Another (Food-Filled) Day at the Office: Emma

So summer is here, and Madysen and Speed are of in Florida with Nana and Pop (interesting to decide who is making the sacrifice there) while Layla is off with a friend in Kaiwah Island, South Carolina.

Doesn’t Speed look excited to be there?

Which means that Emma is the only kiddo at home. This is not how it’s supposed to work.

But Emma is enjoying not being the baby. And, for some reason I’ve never been able to fully explain, coming with me to the office last Thursday. (But boy do they love it.) As has become her ritual, we had Krispy Kreme for breakfast and Potbelly’s for lunch. She also watched movies, drew pictures for my secretary and some other staff, had some ice cream, and watched most of a Zumba workout–not my idea.

And for some reason (I suspect some prodding by my secretary), she donned a bunch of work emblazoned gear–hat, bag, button, pen, etc.–and pranced around.

She is silly.

But she called it quits somewhat early, asking Holly to come get here. Just before she left, we started a game of chess on the over-sized chess board out in the courtyard in front of my building. We each made about 7 moves before Holly arrived, but Emma declared herself the winner since she had taken 3 of my pieces compared to the 2 I had taken of hers. Whatever.

Responses

  1. Did she lose any chess pieces, and replace them with a penny?

    If not, count yourself lucky.

  2. No worries, these chess pieces are very hard to lose seeing as they are nearly as big as Emma.

But you’d think that magnetic pieces would have been difficult to lose too.

  3. Were there any Banff = Lily issues poor Emma had to deal with?
