Following the Thanksgiving, um, festivities, Speed and I spent Saturday in Norman for a little Bedlam football. It’s been a tough year for the OU football team, and a loss to OSU–at home–would have been a real disappointing cherry on top. But we had faith.

Speed looks taller than me, must be an optical illusion--or that hair
Before the game, we got a few autographs from former Sooners Rocky Calmus, Thomas Lott, and Marcus Dupree. Somehow I was not wearing my Dupree jersey, nor, a little more probable, did I have my copy of the book on his high school years.

A terrible photo of Dupree and Speed
As for the game, it was a beautiful day. Less beautiful was the OSU fan sitting right next to me talking a bunch of noise in the first quarter. We had a little verbal war–him talking noise, me making fun of his noise–without ever actually talking directly to each other. But when OU went out to a 10-0 lead, he shut up and sat down. We went on to win 27-0, giving up just 109 yards on defense and crushing OSU’s dream of a BCS bowl. A nice end to a long, injury-riddled season.
