There have been and continue to be plenty of sports played by the kiddos. But basketball has never really been of much interest to the kids. Madysen and Speed “played” one winter in our Cleveland sojourn (it was more mass hysteria than sport) and Speed played one year in 3rd or 4th grade. Even Layla, our most adventuresome child, never did more than mention it.
Emma is now in the midst of her first season on the hardwood. I hated that I had to miss her first game last weekend (to be in College Station of all places), but Holly says Emma had a couple rebounds, a couple steals, and had a shot go in-and-out. Emma says she scored. So either Emma doesn’t know that the ball has to go all the way through the net to score or Holly wasn’t paying attention. 50/50 chance of either. They, the Lady Broncos, lost 18-15 to Hyer White Hoops.
Her second game was yesterday morning. And not only was I there, I brought my camcorder. They won this time 11-7 against the Armstrong Hoops. Emma did not have a shot, but she got her hands up on defense, inbounded the ball like a pro, and had so so results dribbling. Regardless, she had fun.
In the layup line, warming up
Shooting
Pregame Y oath
Taking her defensive spot
And the video. Holly blames me for trying to help with the dribbling issue at the 1:20 mark.
